MyNet printer access for Linux without using PrintShare

I’m hoping somebody out there knows enough about the MyNet series routers to be able to provide some insight into how the WD PrintShare application communicates to the router itself. Is it possible to configure the driver of a printer in Linux to a specific port in order to access an attached printer on the MyNet router without the need to install WD Printshare?

While I believe it should be possible, the specific configuration instructions are likely distribution-specific. Perhaps sharing details related to the Linux distribution you are using may allow for other Users to assist.

Thanks for the tip Trancer. I’m currently running the most current distribution of Linux Mint (18 - Sarah), however I’m always willing to test out a different distribution if it’s going to handle the hardware I’m using with fewer issues.
