Mybook compatability with Samsung tv

Hi,

My first post.

I have a WD MyBook it’s probably bought in 2016.

Model No. WDBGLG0010HBK-01.

It wa previously connected to an LG Tv and worked perfectly.

I’ve bought a new Samsung tv Model No. UE65CU8000.

My question is my Samsung Tv compatible with my WD MyBook.

I’ve connected it to the Samsung tv and the tv recognises the MyBook in settings but won’t record.

Any ideas what I might need to do.

Thanks

My question is my Samsung Tv compatible with my WD MyBook

WD don’t test hard drives on smart TV’s and TV manufacturers don’t test or guarantee compatibility either.

My guess is if the drive was formatted and used on an LG TV, then most likely it needs formatting to work on a Samsung TV.

There should’ve been a prompt to format when you connected it to the Samsung TV if the feature is available.

If all else fails, as a test, try another USB device like a small Flash/Thumb drive to see if it works.

Is there a way of downloading Samsung HDd drivers on my Mac and transferring them to my western digital mybook hdd?

My tv shows external drive is connected but there are no files on the hard drive.

Thanks for previos info
