I have recently bought my password http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=640 , becaues i want to password protect my hard drive, however i want to use it in both my windows laptop and my macbook.

Will it work on both? cause when i plugged it into my macbook it was completely emtpy.

Hello,

This drive is compatible with both Mac and PC. However, you cannot use it on both operating systems at the same time, unless you format the drive as FAT32.

If you format the drive as FAT32 then the WD Smartware software will not work and you will not be able to password protect it.
