When I plug my My Passport into my MacBook Pro, it immediately starts a backup, with no action on my part. Time Machine is not involved at all. It provides no progress report, or any indication of when it has finished. Consequently, I’ll run errands or something for a few hours, only to find 3 or 4 backups, timed, in my case, at something over an hour between starting times. Can someone help me to understand how to record one backup and have it quit? Many thanks in advance.
