My Passport Studio e-ink label displays name but not capacity

I have a My Passport Studio 500GB drive part number WDBAAE5000ASL-00 with e-ink display. At some point, presumably after formatting, the e-ink label stopped showing the capacity bar and “xxGB FREE” but still displays the drive name. I can change the name with the WD SmartWare app but don’t see any option to restore the capacity display. Is there a drive restore or firmware update I can do to get it back? I have both Windows PCs and Macs available to do so.
