My Passport SE Essential not mounting or showing in utility MAC

Hi everyone,

First off, let me say: I dropped my drive. So now when I connect it to my MAC, the light goes on, the drive clicks, the fan works, but nothing happens. The drive doesn’t show up in the utility either.

Is there anyone who might be able to pinpoint what might be the problem and if there’s a way to fix it?

Thanks

It’s probably physically damaged and there is little you can do about it.

Yeah, what I know there is a problem wiht it, but does anyone know how to fix it? I mean come on, can’t the harddrives be a little more physically well built.

They aren’t made to be banged around. They’ve been damaged just tipping over on the desk when stood up on the their side. There is only a few thousands of an inch clearance between disk and heads.

Get a Solid State Drive then, regular mechanical hard drives are natively fragile by design. Else you should get a protective shell/case.
