This is a new problem as of this morning. I woke up my laptop (brand new MacBook Air) this morning and the drive mounted and displayed contents, but then the Finder hangs and pinwheels. I ran first aid in disk utility and everything checked out. The drive check via the WD Drive Utilities app came out clean but the drive still hangs the OS. Am I out of luck? Is there a way to reset the drive without losing any data? Is there a way to get my data off the drive before or after resetting or reformatting it? This device is still under the 3-year limited warranty.
