My passport essential

I am trying to use my passport as a seondary storage place for files between my laptop and my pc.  I hav e searched the threads and uninstalled the smartware, but everytime I try and copy files to the passport it greys them out with a blue downward arrow in the bottom left hand corner like they are not fully there.  I have right clicked on them but there is no option to fully install them on that location.

This drive is really not working for me - can you help me please???
