My passport essential turns off my DVD drive -?

I was copying some of my old backup DVDs and CDs to my passport essential, when I encountered a problem.  My DVD drive dissappeared from my system’s drives.

I had to reboot my system to get the DVD drive back online.  As soon as I connected the Passport Essential, the DVD drive dissappeared again. 

I didn’t change any of my system settings, and I didn’t install any new software since I got the PE.

Does anyone have suggestions or links they can give me??

For some reason, there’s a conflict between the VCD and your DVD.  Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
