My new 1TB Mybook Live seems to have a problem remounting after sleep mode in Windows 7 64. Especially if the drive is in sleep mode when I start my PC. I was expecting that it would wake as soon as a mount request was received. I haven’t had it long so there may be more going on than meets the eye, but it’s odd.
If I remount the drive manally it is fine, but that’s not much of a solution - I want the drive to wake if applications access the data.
I have disabled sleep mode on the MyBook, and will see how this goes - will this dramatically shorten the life of the drive ?
Also, odd thing, the time service thinks it’s 7pm when actually it is 11am. I’ve had to disable the time service as well.
Thoughts ??
Solved - I manually remapped the drive and now it connects on logon again.
For the “time” issue - do you have the time zone set correctly? I believe it default to GMT -8 (Pacific Time). You change this in the Dashboard UI by going to http://[yourservername] (if on a Mac - http://[yourservername].local) - Select Settings/Date & Time/TimeZone. You can also specify a different NTP server if the default of time.microsoft.com is not working correctly. Try time.apple.com (as an example).
