My Book World Edition II

Can anyone help - I can no longer access my directories or files…
This all follows a 6 hour power cut. Everything was fine before that.
From Windows diagnostics
The remote device or resource won’t accept the connection Detected Detected

The device or resource (192.168.1.65) is not set up to accept connections on port “The File and printer sharing (SMB)”.

I also get the message saying “The local device name is already in use” when I try and access a mapped directory on this drive.

Hi DarkMerry,

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this.

The link below will allow you to call support.

It sounds like another device has been allocated the IP of the mapped drive following the power cut. Try using the ‘WD link’ software to identify/locate the drive on the network. You may need to remap

I tried that.
It seems that all WD RAID boxes have different firmware and the only chance of recovering my data is to find the same model with the same firmware then try putting my disks in that.
It’s a shame WD don’t have firmware that is consistent across many NAS units or a way of refreshing the firmware by booting from a USB drive.
I have faith in the WD disks but unfortunately the WD NAS drives are sadly lacking in design especially around the recovery aspect.
Looks like I’m best replacing this WD NAS RAID unit with something from a different manufacturer.
