My MY BOOK WORLD EDITION II (WHITE LIGHT) has a failed HDD. I cannot access the MBW as it is trying to recover but falls into a loupe. From reading I believe I have to replace the failed drive to access my data.

I cannot find a 1TB Green Caviar drive that matches the WD10EADS drive.

Does anyone know which drives are compatible with this model?

Hello JeremyT2,

Only WD Caviar® Green hard drive assemblies can be inserted into the My Book World Edition enclosure. You can look for the drive on third party online stores like amazon.

Thanks - WD support (!) eventually replied. Unfortunately the unit is dead and the data on the drives is only accessible via Linux. Luckily the main data was iTunes which I recovered through iCloud.
Must say very disappointed in WD support as they only deal with new units while we need support when the legacy units give up the ghost.
Have moved to G for future backups.
