MY Book WDBF 3TB needs scanned for errors at every restart

I’m using windows 8.1 x64 Pro and just bopught the drive a few days ago.

Initially I wanted to connect it to my Nighthawk router usb 3.0 port but it was not recognized which struct me as odd.

Then I attached it to my PC’s USB 3.0 port a Z87 chipset motherboard.

Now everytime I restart I get a message the drive has errors and needs to be scanned. (see image below)

Do you think it defective?

Should I return this for a replacement while I still can?

Hello, always remember to safely eject the My Book before disconnecting the USB cable. You can also run a DLG test to rule out any possible hardware damage.

Retuned defective for a replacement drive which has fixed the problem.

The new drive is connected to Netgear R700 router and working fine.

I had run a similar dianostic tool from a UBCD which provides a western digital diagnostic app on it…

Didn’t even show the drive had any problems yet it must have had.

In any case problem solved by replacement.
