My Book Not Recognized

I have a My Book that is not recognized by the computer.
From what I can tell it shows up under devices and printers but will not show up when I open up the folders tab. I have tried it on two different computers. I’m a bit of a newbie with computers but I can follow directions. I backed up a lot of stuff to this drive and am desperate to get it working again.

There can be various reasons for an HDD to become unresponsive. It can be a hardware issue or some technical issue in the software. Reconnecting the HDD won’t help in most of the cases. The HDD remains visible and may be detected by the system if you connect it to another PC, but it doesn’t respond.
