My Book Live Warranty Replacement


I’ve sent a 1TB My Book Live back to WD for warranty replacement (it fails every diagnostic). As this drive isn’t manufactured any more I’m wondering what I’ll get back - an exact replacement or a newer drive. I’m also wondering whether a drive should ever be replaced with a drive that’s not manufactured any more.

Have you had a 1TB MBL replaced under warranty (original or extended)?

Did you get back the same drive, or a different one? If different, what was the replacement?



Hello Nefeco, I recommend you to contact WD support directly for more information on your case. What you normally get is a drive of the same model/capacity, if none are available, they will contact you and offer some options.
