My Book - Is it really backing up my files?

I am using my myBook to back up files on two different computers.  I am setting up this backup using Norton Sercurity Suite.  You setup what directories you want to back up, etc, etc, where you want the content copied to, my myBook connected via USB.  Then click Run Backup.  Goes through the process, finishes.

So my concern is that once it is done, looking at the content on the myBook using Windows Explorer.

There is a N360_BACKUP directory → a directory where the name looks like a hash code of some type   → directories named {0, {1, {2, etc, etc

My point being that I don’t see my files, movie and image files anywhere, how do I get them back in usable form.

When a restore is run are my orginal files recreated for the directory and file structure above?

Thanks

Or, thinking about it for a bit, it is probably Norton that is doing this to the files?

I should probably just be copy pasting using windows explorer from the computer to the usb connect myBook.

Is that the better way to go about it?

Hello,

You can also use the WD Smartware backup software.
