My Book Essential WONT do a thing!

I purchased it 4 months ago. Backed up files. I’ve been sitting here for hours trying to back up my new files.

I plug it in correctly. Open WD SmartWare. Nothing happens. Can’t enter password. Can’t backup, can’t retrieve. My pc recognizes that it’s plugged in but the software doesn’t. I don’t get it. I’m getting frustrated. The power light goes on but nothing else does like it used to. Last thing I want to do is lose everything. Help! :frowning:
