My Book Essential password protect with Win 8.1

I own a My Passport Ultra, and have installed the WD Security Software for password protection for that drive, but the software doesn’t recognize the My Book Essential external hard drives I own, which are between 1TB and 3TB.

Where is the update/software to use to password protect a My Book Essential with Win 8.1?

I have the updated WD Smartware, but under “settings” no setup drive is shown so I’m supposed to use the WD Security Software, which only shows the Passport Ultra.

Hello, there are plenty of My Book Essentials, what is the model number of yours?So we can point you in the right direction.

Hi, I don’t log in to the community everyday, but I was able to find the information you requested. In order for you to enable the security on the My Book you need to use the WD Smartware software, which is the software that was shipped with this drives.

Installed that software already, the “SETUP DRIVE” on the right side does not appear, to put passwords on the drives
