My Book Elite 1 TB: Change the label without installing WD SmartWare?

Hello

I have just bought a Western Digital My Book Elite 1 TB and I don’t want to install the WD SmartWare.

… But I would like to set / change the “e-label” on the front of the disk.

Can I set / change the label WITHOUT installing the WD SmartWare ?

I already called tech support about that, and they said there’s no way.  You do have to have smartware installed.

You can install the software, label the drive, disable the virtual cd and uninstall the software.  Works just fine.  :smiley:
