My Book Duo stopped working/not visible anymore

Hi

I use(d) a My book Duo on Macbook pro with OSx 10.9.5.
It was running until few days ago, now it is not visible anymore, sound of the disk is “normal”.
I can do the checks with WD utilities but not with the disk utilities of my mac - checking is stopped. It also says “only reading” . In the mac disk utilities it`s listed when connected but letters are grey not black.
Does anyone nows how I can to get to my data??
I asked support but they only send me a pdf of the manual…?

Is your WD appearing just as the Sierra HD in the below screen?

I have purposely unmounted this drive. If this is the case with your disk drive then data recovery can be done. Try Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery trial version on your unmounted disk.

No physical failure is a good sign, having said this once data recovery is accomplished you can erase this hard drive with a new file system.

thanks a lot for you’re answer - yes, on my mac it looks like this:


“sicher” is my disk name - it shows the WD duo and “sicher”
A friend gave me tha advice to read out disk directly with this adapter first - then I will see…I will report.

Yes. try with a different adapter or cable, enclosure then you might consider recovery. Good Luck.
