As the subject says, I bought a My Book 4TB today, reformatted for Mac, and started copying files and running Time Machine backups. Twice the drive has acted as if it was unplugged, then reconnected. I’m losing confidence in it. Is there a remedy for this problem, or should I return it and buy a different brand?

Late 2008 MacBook Pro, 8GB/750GB, Mavericks, USB 2.0
Change the USB cable and try with a different power outlet (No power strips). If the issue goes on then it would be best to replace it.
