I used Acronis instead of WD’s software so perhaps the question is for them.

It is pretty generic though so I thought you might help.

If I back up two pcs to the extenal hard drive, how can i distinguish between the two?

Is it just a matter of opening what is archived and locating it or should I create a folder for each?

Are you using the Acronis as a back up utility to back up only data?

Or you are using the Acronis as back up the whole computer and save it as image?

Either way you still have to name each files from each computer differently, or in their own folder.

That way it makes it easy to distinguish between them.
