My 16TB MyBook has started having more buffering problems. I bought it February 2025 and it has a lot of space available. It still has 15.3 TB available. Why would my drive be buffering and what can I do to fix the problem? Thanks

If it still has 15.3 TB free then space is not the issue. What I see a lot on Windows 11 is USB power management quietly throttling external drives. Go to Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, open each USB Root Hub, and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.” Also check Power Options and set your plan to High performance or at least disable USB selective suspend. While you’re there, try a different USB port and cable because MyBooks are sensitive to weak connections. Lastly, make sure Windows Security or any antivirus is not actively scanning that drive in the background since large drives trigger constant indexing and scanning which feels like buffering.
