“WD XXXX” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.
I get that for every WD utility or device I try to open.
Suddenly I cannot open any of my 5 various WD Passports on my macOS running Mojave 10.14.6. I have tried updating WD Discovery, WD Utilities, WD Security, and WD Firmware and all are failing miserably. I deleted WD Discovery and tried over and then tried to reinstall. Nada.
I did get the security to accept my password to unlock so I know “something” is working, but so far, that’s it.
In researching the release notes and directions it appears there have been many WD updates over time. I have no idea if my mac has been updating them on its own over time; all my other apps do but I have no recollection of seeing WD updates.
I suspect this is related to the 32-bit thing because I have been getting warnings about WD Discovery for a long time but everything was still working so I ignored it. I didn’t think there was anything I could do except replace my mac with a newer version. Now I wonder if I was supposed to be updating all along.
