Moving files and the media library

If I have a Media Library set up and I rip a new film to another HDD, attached to my laptop.

I unplug the HDD from my laptop and plug it into the USB port on the front of the SMP and move the file on to the HDD attached to the back.

Will the media library find this new item itself, or will I have to ‘prompt’ it somehow?

It should recompile and add the info on it’s own, if it doesn’t then power cycle the media player (Disconnect the power adapter for some minutes).
