Mounting My Book Duo HDD through Network on Mac

I bought a 36TB My Book Duo for media storage and it’s connected to my Mac Mini through thunderbolt currently but it’s really noisy on my desk which is in my bedroom. I am wondering if I can move it into another room and connect to it through ethernet, is this possible?

I have tried just plugging it into an ethernet port with a USB - Ethernet adapter but it doesn’t seem to be discovered. Any ideas?
