Mounting Drive in Linux

I’m having some dificulty mounting my drive to a linux machine. I’m able to mount the drive using samba and cifs however the drive is read only. I have tried changing the permissions and the owner with no luck. Owner remains root with read only for all users. Anyone have any input on this? I’m a bit of a linux noob. Thanks.

If you are a bit of a Linux noob, the MBL has Debian underneath. Enable SSH and do any Linux command as you wish from the cli.
