MKV audio problem

Hi,

I just bought two units of WD Live Plus.  Both are set to audio => stereo and I am using a HDMI cable to connect them to the TVs.  However, I am not getting audio on some mkv files.  When I click on option and look at the audio stream - it says AC3 but no audio from the tv at all.  The same file plays fine on my computer and on my popcorn with similar settings.

Is this a bug in the firmware?  Please let me know.  I am quite bummed with this problem and may need to return the units if this cannot be solved.  Thanks in advance.

Post the details (in text form) of these files using mediainfo (freeware).

It is possible that they were muxed using the latest copy of MKVmerge which stopped some audio from playing on the WDTV. If that is the case you can easily remux them using Version 4.0.0 of MKVmerge. This is quick and easy. You can use the current version of MKVmerge but that involves turning off compression in both video and audio tracks.

richUK - your suggestion worked.  Does this mean WD will release a patch that fixes this?  Am I being too hopeful?

They do indeed have a fix for this coming – Real Soon Now.

Having the same problem. Tried using a troubleshooting guide somewhere on the site but it killed the video. Most likely because I have the latest version and it didnt have that step. Hopefully this should work now.

Good forums these for a great peice of kit. Only got mine a week ago.
