Okay i have 700 movies, and each one of them is within it’s own folder
So WDTVLIVEHub\Videos\Blu Ray\Avatar\Avatar.MKV
WDTVLIVEHUB\Videos\Blu Ray\Iron Man 2\Iron Man 2.MKV
WDTVLIVEHUB\Videos\DivX\Cool Hand Luke\Cool Hand Luke.avi
etc etc…
I just upgraded to the newest firmware, and now my metadata ONLY shows if i go INSIDE the folder, whereas on the old firmware the metadata would show outside the folder
And i can’t seem to figure out how to make it re-appear outside the folder again?
I think they changed from one single Metadata folder to including it (JPG, XML) within each subfolder using the same name as the media file. I’m not sure why this is an issue for you as you can’t see the actual Metadata files in normal usage. I’m not sure why you have a folder for every movie. What I did using Windows Explorer was to create a group of main folders, one of which is simply “Movies.” I have a subfolder in there called “Harry Potter” to keep navigation even easier. Each one of my DVD-rips is an ISO file which I made using the free programs “passkey lite” and “imgburn.” My other movies are BluRay rips which are currently MKV but I will eventually do ISO as apparently that is working now.
Sorry, I thought you were talking about Windows Explorer when you said “inside the folder” etc. Now that you mention it: I HAD TO REDO MY METADATA AFTER THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE. The TITLE of the movie showed as the metadata version, but the JPG was missing until I simply redid it. I think it’s a glitch from them switching from a single folder to using the same folder as each movie. So unfortunately you may have to REDO all your movies. (I actually prefer the basic text version partially because I have to keep changing the VIEW when navigating and it doesn’t remember my preferences for each folder, something I hope they change.)
Here is a post I put together for another forum detailing how the metadata is structured after the new firmware, depending on the type of file.
From the limited experience I have since updating to the new FW last night, the xml for mkv are put in the same folder. If you have multiple mkv’s in a folder; it expects the jpg and xml in the same folder.
For DVD folder structure backups, it puts them in the top level directory, with the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders.
For BD folder structure backups, it puts them in the BDMV/STREAM folder, naming them the same as the m2ts file.
Some examples: DVD
root@unraid:/mnt/user/xXx# ls | fmt -1
AUDIO_TS/
VIDEO_TS/
xXx.jpg*
xXx.xml*
