I am really pleased with my WDBook Live.

However, I cant get my LG TV to recoignise new files, or renamed files that I add to the drive. The hard drive works with old files and its indexed. Is there a way I can get the TV to rescan so new files / names are indexed?

Yes, you can go to the My Book dashboard and click on the rescan option for the Media server, check the link below for the steps. If that doesn’t work, you can click on the Rebuilt option. Check page 113 of the manual for more information.
