Mac OS Finder access issue

I’ve just set up a MyCloud mirror device and, whilst I can access from the iPhone mobile app, I’m having difficulties connecting up to any folders from the Mac Finder. I’m getting an error message of; “The folder “Shared Pictures” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents”

I am on the latest firmware for the mirror and am running macOS Sierra v 10.12.6. I am connected to the MyCloud Mirror as admin and the folders are within the public directory - which is enabled for anyone on my network, or in my user group, to access.

I’ve not yet tried accessing via a Windows desktop and am wondering if this is an Apple compatibility type issue? Any suggestion would be hugely appreciated - perhaps it’s such a simple thing that I’m just not seeing it.
