Mac mt lion, no AFP features, no update server

I am tgrying to use Tiome Machine to back up my iMac with Mountain lion, but I get a message that says “The network backup doesn’t support the required AFP featukres.” When I try to update WD Snmartware 1.3.4.1, I get a message that says the update server is currenbtly unavailable. 

At thye moment, Time Machine doesn’t even recognize the WD. 

This used to work fine on my MacBook, with snow leopard.
