Looking for WDS500G2X0C Driver

Hello! I built a new system in June which includes two WDS500G2X0C drives. In support forums I have seen users advised to obtain the latest drivers for these SSDs.

My Windows 10 Device Manager shows:
Device Manger > Storage Controllers > Standard NVM Controller > Driver
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 6/21/2006
Driver Version: 10.0.17134.81
Digital Signer: Microsoft

And the WD Dashboard:
Western Digital SSD Dashboard – 2.3.2.4
Tools > Diagnostics > S.M.A.R.T. > S.M.A.R.T. Diagnostic
S.M.A.R.T. self test is not supported by your system’s storage driver. Please check S.M.A.R.T. attributes for drive health status.

I cannot find the driver download on WD’s site. Help!!

there is no driver for this from WD. You can use the native Windows driver or if you have an Intel chipset you can use the Intel IRST driver.

Hi! Thanks for that. But doesn’t the quote imply there is a driver that supports the self test?

Hello drlurcky: I was just wondering about replacing the standard NVM express driver (controller driver) that Windows 10 auto installs with the IRST driver. Is there an advantage? Do I just download it and click on the exe file to install it or is there a special way to update the Standard NVM express driver and point to the IRST driver?
Thank you for your advice and help.
