recently i have had my external hard drive locked for no apparent reason.
try as i may no matter what i’ve done it will not open!!! That is until i booted my computer in SAFE MODE. Presto. all my data is now visible and I copied to another hard drive. reformatted in SAFE MODE and everything is now back to normal. hope this can help anyone with the same problem i have had!!!

Thank you for sharing this information. However, I would still email support and let them know of what happened. Just in case the drive needs a replacement.
