Is a passport a usb3 enclosure of an sata 2.5" drive?

I ask because thats what I am looking for.

a  usb3 enclosure, with a 2.5" internall sata drive.

So i can migrate in or out of laptop internal drives.

I assume its a monolithic usb3 drive, since it isn’t advertised otherwise.

But it seemed odd to manufacture a unique hdd interface for one product.

So this is me asking.

I believe the new Passports have proprietary a connection on the drive. On top of that if the drive comes with Smartware it will be hardware encrypted by the circuitboard with USB connector.
