Is 40C too hot?

My OS HDD which is a 2TB WD Black runs at 40C constant, just noticed it, seems kind of hot, could it cause problems? quicker drive degradation?

anything below 45°C is totally fine and shouldn’t hurt your drive one bit. Just make sure it stays below that temp. Anything above 55°C is dangerous and might cause your drive to turn off (safety measure). Just try to avoid that 50°C mark for a longer life expectancy!

A minimal airflow will already ensure a lower temperature, so if it gets hot in summer, grab a cheap small fan and place it somewhere near the HDD, to ensure there is no stagnat air around the drive.
