Can this be used to access the internet, for browsing, or streaming TV shows from things like 4OD and ITV Player?

Or is it restricted to BBC iPlayer and the other installed apps?

There is an undocumented basic web browser accessible from the network interface, but it is not easy to use. Search for the post in here about it.
