Installing Intel RST Driver on DS5100?

In the event that there’s no way to expand the HDD whitelist on my DS5100, has anyone successfully installed the Intel RST driver (Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver) on a DS5100?

Are the DS5100 and DS6100 pretty much the same, architecturally? If so, if anyone’s installed on the DS6100, that would help, too.

I know the RST driver works (e.g. supports a wider list of HDDs) on the DX4000, but that runs Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials, so that is not necessarily indicative of success on the DS5100/DS6100 that runs Server 2012 R2 Essentials.
