Installing Beta Firmware Versions on a Live Plus

There is not one available now, but I may want to try in the future. I do not see an avenue for installing the beta. The only option on the menu appears to be “check for upgrades”. If there is not an offcial release, there is never anything to automatically download.

Did I miss something?

Also,  is the ability to read AVCHD and Blu-Ray menus in the works for a future release?

Get the Beta Firmware here:

http://wdc.com/wdtvliveplus_limitedpublicbetarelease/

Extract the file on a USB Flash Drive.

Insert the USB Flash Drive into the USB port on the WD Live Plus.

Go to the Settings Tab.

It should automatically see that there is a firmware update available.

Follow the onscreen prompts, it will restart, update, and restart again.

 Done.

Note sure about AVCHD, but definately NOT Blu-Ray.   BD’s require javascript support, and the WD doesn’t do that.
