My computer hd crashed so had to get new. When I connect external hd it asks to install on new computer. Will I lose files on external hd if I do that?
Also, all the files are locked and I can unlock them but there are hundreds. Is there a way to unlock all?

If the drive is not formatted the files should remain on the drive. What is the the security password actually locks and unlock the drive itself not files in particular, what you need to do to unlock it is enter your password.
