I unplugged my ‘My Book Essentials’ not realizing there was a procedure to go through and now it won’t turn on. I tried a new plug (not from WD) and still no power. Any suggestions? My whole life is in that drive so any help is appreciated.

Make sure the drive is plugged in directly into a wall outlet. Also if possible try another computer and/or another USB port.
If the drive is seen but you cannot access the data then it is possible the partition is corrupted and you will need to format the drive in order to use it again. Formatting the drive will delete all data stored in it. However, you may try to recover the data before you format it by using a data recovery software.
