I think my book essential 2tb is fried!

I have a lot of data there, less than 1 tb, I thought that by buying a higher capacity my book my problems would be solved, now I ended up with no data, no external drive and no money, I just purchased it within a month!!!  grrr…

ANY IDEAS HOW TO FIX THIS MESS??

I TRIED THE DRIVE IN BOTH MY COMPUTERS AND IT IS NOT RECOGNIZABLE!!!

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT.

ED

Does the drive spin up, or attempt to spin up? Any vibration?

Did you drop it? Did you overvolt it with the wrong adapter?

Can you see it in Disk Management? Device Manager?

Can you see the USB enclosure with Microsoft’s UVCView utility?

I can see it. I think. But I have no clue what to do with the info…

I did not drop it or use the wrong watts to plug it. I just deleted a bunch of folders that nero left behind with my computer’s important ■■■■ repeated 5 times!!!

Can you show us the UVCView output for your drive?

How is it identified in Device Manager?

Does the drive show up in Disk Management? If so, then it is most probably a file system problem, or a problem with bad sectors.

I have a My Book Pro and a few times it got lost on PC. What I did was go into device manager and delete the driver. Then remove the drive, reboot and then connect the drive back up. Did you defrag the drive? I found that was part of the problem, I was using a third party defrag program.
