I lost the S.M.A.R.T data on WD Green 2TB Drive

Somewhere during an experiment with Free NAS I lost the S.M.A.R.T data on WD Green 2TB Drive. It does not show up in bios when posting and it doesn’t show up afterwards. It seems to have been nuked. The drive itself seems to function ok. Is there a way of re-enabling this function?

It would be best to share the exact procedure that resulted in the current outcome. Some advanced Users may be able to assist. You could also check the FreeNAS forums to confirm if this has happened with other hard drives and if there is a method to address this behavior.

I wonder. It’s possible to turn off S.M.A.R.T. on some drives. I’m not an expert here, but the Linux smartctl utility does seem to suggest this can be done.
