My current hard drive has bad sectors so, I am getting a new one. Is there an easier, safer way to transfer data than copy and paste? Would windows easy transfer work? If the bad sectors are logical would they go with the copy and paste?

Copy/paste should be the best way to copy your files. I recommend you don’t try copying them all at once.
