How to revive a disused WD MyCloud EX2 flashing with hdds replaced

I have a MyCloud EX2 was lying around. Found a power adapter (12v 2a) for it. 1amp lesser than what is recommended (12v 3a). Also found 2x 1.5tb hdds with different make. All assembled, turned on, constant flashing blue light. Dashboard is inaccesible. (http://mycloudex2.local/) or (http://mycloudex2)

tried to access it through its ip address too but no life so far. (found its ip address through my router’s control panel)

downloaded the latest firmware, copied into fat32 formatted usb (it is a unbranded 2gb one), hooked up at rear of the ex2 then hooked up the power adapter (network cable was also hooked up all the time directly from router) no change to blue light.

i assume the ex2 has to detect and format the disks as i formatted both disks using a usb dock to confirm they work earlier.

it looks to me like the ex2 has something wrong with it. perhaps a firmware fault as dashboard can not be accessed. 4 and 40+ seconds resets didn’t work either.

i read other posts but they couldn’t help.

does anyone know how to restore firmware on it?

it says EX2 (not EX2 Ultra)

Do a 40 second reset and see if that helps.
