How to format My Book Duo as RAID1 and APFS for Time Machine?

Can I somehow use my My Book Duo as RAID1 and format it APFS?

The WD Drive Utilities App only allows HFS+J and ExFat. But google says APFS would be the best for Time Machine.

You don’t have to use the WD Drive Utility.

Instead, use the native macOS application Disk Utility.
From there you can select any format you like.

Regarding HFS+J vs APFS. HFS+J might actually be better for HDDs and APFS better for SSDs. But recently Apple has changed documentation to APFS being the preferred option. I guess it’s due to additional features like snapshots, etc.
