How Snappy?

I am considering purchasing the WD TV HD for viewing of photos and avi videos from a thumb drive on my HDTV.  My HDTV already lets me view photos, but the transition from photo to photo is very slow.  I have two questions.

1.  How “snappy” is the transition from photo to photo using a USB thumb drive plugged into this box?

2.  Would this box have any difficulty playing avi files taken by a Canon Point and Shoot Digital Elf camera?

I bought my box for just that reason.

The photo slide show feature works fine, with no delays or blank screen between slides.

The timing may be set from from 5 minutes down to 3 seconds.

3 seconds works fine.
