How many partitions do I need to make?

I’m backing up 2 different MacBooks and my WD Live Hub onto a 2TB MyBook.

I’ve never done full computer backups before (I know, probably not smart). My thinking is that I should do 2 partitions: 1 1TB partition can fit backups for both of my MacBooks, the other 1TB partition for my 1TB WD Hub backup.

Does that sound right to any of you that are experienced in this kind of thing? Or can I do just one partition and put it all on one?

ALSO, if it does have to be 2 partitions, what format is the best one to use for backing up my WD Hub data?

THANKS FOR ALL HELP!!!

You don’t need to create partitions to separate the backups.

The backups will be separated if you use a software or you can just transfer the files to different folders.

To Backup the WD TV Live Hub you might need the manual copy and paste approach.
