New to this and would preferably like to give access to a friend on a specific file rather than public access. How do I achieve this? Or a least limit him seeing everything?
I had this same concern when I bought my device. The way around this that I decided to use was to create a user account and after providing them access to certain shares I would then add access from my ipad via access code underr that users account. As a result I would see the shares that I gave them and had the access user permision that I also gave them. I did this for a few of my accounts and after seeing indeed that the permisions worked like they should I entruseted the rest would.

If all you want to do is share a specific file and not give someone access to the My Cloud as a User, then all you have to do is to:

Open the My Cloud Desktop on your PC (if you don’t have it installed you can get it from here: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?wdc_lang=en&fid=wdsfMyCloud))

Connect to or select the My Cloud

Navigate to the file you want to share

Right click on the the file and select “E-mail”

Send them the email link to the share.
