How do I convert a 320G WD drive to a 40 G drive

I have a 320 gig IDE Hard drive.  Due to the limitations of the OS that I need to install,  the drive needs to be configured for 40G in order for the OS to run. Is there anything I can do to get the 320G hard drive to look like a 40Gig hard drive?

You can try partitioning the drive http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3865  see if that helps.
